FEVER Guidelines

 

Sun

Neonate (Birth to 2 mo)

Normal temperature is 98.6 (range of 97-99)

Elevated Temperature 100.4—Call your doctors office to schedule a same day appointment or go to Emergency Department (Preferably that has pediatricians—Banner Desert Medical Center or Phoenix Children’s Hospital)

 

Infant (2 mo to 18 mo)

Normal temperature is 98.6 (range of 97-99)

Mild Temperature 99-103—May give acetaminophen or ibuprofen (only for infants over 6 mo of age).  If temperatures persist more than 2-3 days or your child is complaining of pain and is not acting normal please call your doctors office for an appointment or go to urgent care.

Elevated Temperature of 103 or greater—call your doctors office to schedule a same day appointment for evaluation or go to an urgent care/emergency department.

 

Toddler (18 mo to 3 yrs)

Normal temperature is 98.6 (range of 97-99)

Mild Temperature 101-103—May give acetaminophen or ibuprofen.  If temperatures persist more than 2-3 days or your child is complaining of pain and is not acting normal please call your doctors office for an appointment or go to urgent care.

Elevated Temperature of 103 or greater— that is persisting for 2-3 days please call your doctors office to schedule an appointment for evaluation or go to an urgent care/emergency department.
